Whilst doing a little blog-spotting during my lunch hour, I came across @crystaljigsaw's recent blog post in which she interviewed her 1o year old daughter (http://crystaljigsaw.blogspot.com)... I thought that would be quite interesting and amusing, so have done the same.

The interviewees:
JR (my son) who will be 12 in just over two weeks... 1st year at high school, grown up all of a sudden and now knows far too much... which scares me a lot!

Em-J
(my daughter) who will be 9 in March... looks like butter wouldn't melt, but think she is secretly the devil! (ahhh I don't really mean that, she is the sweetest ever in the world... half the time!!!)

To picture how the interview was conducted, each sat on a separate settee so they couldn't peek at each others answers. I read out the question, they wrote down the answer in silence. I am now about to type them up (yes the answers are about to be revealed to me as I type!)

The Interview:
Me: How old are you?
JR: 11
Em-J: 8

Me: How old am I?
JR: 31 Gee thanks Jake :)
Em-J: 34 Spot on!

Me: If you could change your name, what would you choose?
JR: Cameron
Em-J: Gabriell

Me: What is your favourite food?
JR: Krispy strips
Em-J: Pasta, ham, sweetcorn and mayo
Thanks... just make it look like I feed you complete pap!

Me: Who are your best friends/mates?
JR: Sam and Harry
Em-J: Mollie and Rebecca

Me: What is the best thing about me?
JR: My mum is very very funny and treats us all the time and my mum is very loving and caring
Em-J: Kind, helpful, always enjoyable to play with, always makes and gets me things.
(Creeps!)

Me: Have I ever embarrassed you?
JR: Well there's plenty of times you've embarrassed me mum but the worst is at my sleepover for my birthday party when you farted in front of my mates and after that at night you walked into my room with my pink teddy from when I was younger, I was 11 and you said "Jake dont forget to sleep with your teddy"! The teddy.. I know I'm a cruel mother (haha!) ... the fart.. no comment!
Em-J: When she doesn't look alright and my friends see her. Cheeky little... Just wait till the morning lol - That's the image conscious world of Hannah Montana and High School Musical for ya hey!

Me: What animal does bacon come from?
JR: Pig
Em-J: Pig
Phew.. Mine are two of the three intelligent ones... Baa-con butty! One child in four thinks bacon comes from a sheep!

Me:
Who do you consider the most famous person in the world to be?
JR: Tiger Woods
Em-J: Beyonce
Sorry Tiger mi ol mucker and Beyonce luv, but the 2009 "most famous" would be President of the United States, Barack Obama. However, this is usually true of contemporary politicians in the media. Other famous people are Bill Gates, Queen Elizabeth of England, Warren Buffet, Richard Branson, Paul McCartney, Pope Benedict, and the late Michael Jackson.
The historically famous would include Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, and similar religious leaders, who are well-known to a large segment of the world's population.
The historically "infamous" are likewise remembered for some time, such as Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin for the 20th Century, and Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein for the early 21st Century - Thanks Wiki.

Me: If a genie came along with a magic lantern to grant you three wishes, what would they be?
JR: To be the best snooker player ever, to be rich and for all wars and terrorism to stop. Ahh the war and terrorism thing is quite upsetting to read
Em-J: Sing like Taylor Swift, to be going out with **** and to win Britains got Talent. She did actually write the love of her life from her class, but I am under strict instructions to keep it confidential!

Me: What do you want to be when you grow up?
JR: A professional snooker player but if I cant be that, a Loyer. I think he actually means Lawyer... and at least he listened to the school, education and a decent job chat we had last week lol
Em-J: A good singer and a good dancer but if I cant be that I would like to be on a TV program judging some dancers. Ok!

Me: Have you ever kept a secret from me, If so what!
JR: I cross my heart I dont know!
Em-J: Yes it was that I loved someone at school
Nice try mum!

Me: Why do we celebrate Easter?
JR: Because the big rock that was blocking Jesus in disappeared and Jesus was gone
Em-J: Because of a story in the bible
I am soo sooo glad that they didn't say something like keeping people in Chocolate factories in jobs

and to finish, a nice easy one...
Me: What came first - The Chicken or the egg? You would not believe how long they both sat with a strained thinking face on!! haha
JR: The Egg
Em-J: Eggs
What's that Emma... scrambled or poached!

Well children.. are you sitting tightly... here is the answer!...
Living things evolve through changes in DNA. In a chicken, DNA from a male sperm cell and a female ovum meet and combine to form a Zygote. (So far that means we need a chicken 1st right?)...
The first cell divides innumerable times to form all the cells of the complete animal.
In any animal, every cell contains exactly the same DNA, which comes from the Zygote.
However, Chickens evolved from non-chickens through small changes caused by mixing of male and female DNA or by mutations to DNA that produced the Zygote.
These changes and mutations only have an effect at the point where a new Zygote is created.
That is, two non-chickens mated and the DNA in their new zygote contained mutation(s) that produced the first true chicken.
Prior to the first true chickens, there were only non-chickens.
The zygote cell is the only place where DNA mutations could produce a new animal, and the zygote cell is housed....
in the chicken's egg.
So the egg must have come first.... right?

I think your mum asked you lots of really hard questions but you did very well.

JR - I take it you like snooker? So do I, it's the only sport I enjoy watching on the telly. I hope one day I will be watching you - you will be my claim to fame!

Did your mum pay you to answer question 6, or is that really true? I'm sure it's really true, cos your mum is one lovely lady.

    Well done!!
    CJ xx
